Who We Serve

Our learners, and their communities, are resilient, creative problem solvers who possess concrete skills and perspectives that contribute significant societal benefits. However, they too often face significant, multiple barriers to higher education. To expand college access for these learners, we formed the Social Impact Collective to create new education pathways that unlock greater opportunity, social capital, and upward mobility.

The needs of the people served by the Social Impact Collective are diverse. The learners in our population include:

Incarcerated individuals seeking to improve their likelihood of gainful employment upon release from prison, reducing their chances of recidivism

High school students in underserved communities receiving academic and skill-building support in a tuition-free, college-bound program

Civically engaged learners participating in leadership and educational opportunities focused on active citizenship

Learners experiencing food insecurity relying on community meal distribution programs such as the one developed by SNHU during COVID-19

Campus learners engaging in immersive service projects around a particular social issue during academic breaks

Refugees pursuing higher education while fleeing conflict and instability across the globe

"

Getting my college degree is important to me, because not many people in my family have one. I want to be one of the family members that does.”
